My Body is a collection of images produced between 2018 and 2020, during fieldwork with young men from a working-class neighborhood in Salvador, Bahia, who practice a form of street workout known as 'malhação' or 'calisthenics.' The central focus of these physical activities is the aesthetic transformation of the body, through which moral conceptions and virtues are also produced, shaped by the formation of male friendships. The essay presents the participants interacting with the camera, displaying the muscular effects of their practice and expressing pride, self-esteem, and the struggle for recognition, which serve as a crucial counterpoint in the context of the challenging experiences that define the lives of black masculinities in the city's outskirts.
