Abstract

This essay seeks to critically reflect on the implications of an analytical conception that focuses on the moral dimension of the deployment of sexuality in contemporary times to the detriment of its (bio)political dimension. To this end, I contrast the analysis of the Brazilian anthropologist Sérgio Carrara, about the emergence of a new secular regime of sexuality, with the notion of homonationalism, proposed by the United Statesian theorist Jasbir Puar. My intention is to complexify the understanding of the transformations that the deployment of sexuality has undergone in recent decades, taking into account the current resurgence of nationalist authoritarianism in various parts of the world.
