A virada empírica dentro da ética da assistência à saúde

Resumo
Este artigo pretende incentivar que acadêmicos enviem trabalhos para um simpósio e para a próxima edição especial da Medische Antropologie, que tratará de estudos empíricos sobre questões normativas. Descrevemos a “virada empírica” na ética médica. A ética médica e a bioética em geral testemunharam um movimento da ética aplicada (a aplicação de regras e princípios para situações complexas) para um interesse renovado nas questões éticas práticas e cotidianas, nos problemas e nas formas como os profissionais de saúde lidam com eles na prática. Destacamos quatro formas de pesquisa empírica na ética: estudos sobre os efeitos de algumas formas de éticas institucionalizadas na assistência à saúde; estudos sobre visões e práticas éticas na sociedade; estudos sobre questões éticas relativas a inovações médicas e, finalmente, estudos sobre a normatividade das práticas de cuidado. Terminamos o artigo com uma avaliação da função da pesquisa ética: prover um alicerce para o debate social sobre assistência à saúde.
